I have absolutely no connection whatsoever with Nutrasweet, Monsanto, the federal government, or any other business for that matter. I'm a high school physics and mathematics teacher, and my training is both as a scientist and an educator: I have a Bachelor's of Science in physics and a Master's of Science in physics in addition to my teaching certification. An area of particular interest to me in science education is that of teaching students practical usage of scientific methodology and the application of critical thinking skills. As such interests form much of my focus in my career, I am a self-proclaimed skeptic, not to be confused with cynic, as they are not the same thing. I suppose it is the rampant propogation of misinformation across the Internet, how close it hit home to me (i.e., getting spread around my school among my own students), and my desire to teach people to be skeptical and critical in their thinking that caused my involvement in this aspartame issue.
